Orthodontic Treatment

Professional Orthodontics

Orthodontics, also commonly known as braces, uses braces to move teeth to an ideal position and adjust their alignment to improve appearance and bite problems.
If you have the following dental problems, you can consult an orthodontic professional whether you need orthodontic treatment:

  • Crowded teeth: little space between teeth
  • Excessive gap between teeth: There are obvious gaps between teeth
  • Deep bite: upper and lower incisors overlap
  • Inverted: the lower front teeth extend in front of the upper teeth
  • Open bite: When the mouth is completely closed, the upper and lower teeth cannot touch each other.
  • Misbite: upper teeth inside lower teeth
  • Crooked teeth: crooked and misaligned teeth

These conditions can easily lead to tooth decay, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. In severe cases, it can even lead to tooth loss, or the jawbone may bear excessive pressure, affecting chewing ability. Orthodontics can correct the bite position, improve chewing function and bite and pronunciation problems. At the same time, it can help keep teeth clean, improve oral hygiene and gum health.

Currently, the market generally offers the choice of traditional metal braces and clear aligners. Both can treat general malocclusion or uneven teeth problems, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Orthodontic Treatment

Traditional metal braces

The principle of using fixed braces is to attach braces to the surface of the teeth, and then add wires to allow the teeth to move with the rebound of the wires. The dentist will regularly adjust the force exerted on the braces to accurately control the movement of the teeth to the target position. If the tooth condition is more complex, the dentist will also use bone screws and elastic bands to speed up the process of moving the teeth.

General process

  • 1. Dental examination: The dentist will first conduct a detailed examination and assessment of the teeth and jaws to confirm whether professional orthodontic treatment is appropriate.

  • 2. X-ray and digital oral scan: Understand the position of the teeth in the gums and show the occlusal position of all upper and lower teeth

  • 3. Take photos: The dentist will take photos of your teeth, bite and sides to conduct a detailed and comprehensive analysis of the tooth arrangement and bite.

  • 4. Establish a treatment plan. Clear aligner treatment will use a computer program to simulate the stage changes of braces and assist in establishing a treatment plan.

  • 5. The dentist explains the treatment plan so that you can understand the entire process before treatment and gain confidence in the correction effect.

  • 6. Tooth removal (if necessary) If there is insufficient space between the teeth, the dentist may recommend removing one or more teeth to provide adequate space for the teeth to adjust their position.

If you choose traditional metal braces treatment

  • 7. Install braces

  • 8. Regular follow-up and brace adjustment

If you choose clear aligner treatment

  • 7. It will take about 2-4 weeks to receive the customized braces

  • 8. According to the dentist’s instructions, wear the specified braces during the specified treatment period

  • 9. Regularly replace braces (replacement is required every 1-2 weeks on average) and follow-up consultations
